Invitation to raid with Covent of Destruction.

Post by Inori »

We've been approached by Covent of Destruction to jointly raid 25 ICC (looks like they do RS too). Due to our last experience with joint raiding, we won't embark upon a complicated system like last time. Instead of a joint raid, Covent of Destruction will host the raid entirely within their existing DKP system. Forged Alliance raiders who participate in their raids would basically start off at zero like a new raider.

What does this mean? Forged Alliance raiders will be at a disadvantage for items that are in high demand. You can view the existing CoD DKP standings here.

http://coventofdestruction.guildlaunch. ... n=homepage

Some people are at 4.6k DKP, but you can see that the list tapers down pretty fast. It probably reminds people of the old Forged Alliance DKP at the end of Burning Crusade.

It doesn't mean you won't get loot. I haven't done the exercise, but I'm pretty sure that a fair number of their current raiders aren't super high in DKP since they're having attendance problems. As with any DKP system, the longer you raid, the higher your DKP will accumulate and you should be able to work your way up the priority.

Looking at their DKP rules, items have a fixed price. DKP is earned on a time (DKP for hours spent) + boss (DKP for boss kill) + bonus (DKP for staying entire run) basis. Their system is pretty much like the Forged Alliance system except that they don't use zero sum. You can read their DKP rules here.

Their guild does 25 man raids on Tuesday and Friday nights at 6:15 PM server time. I've been told that they'd like to restart their 25 man raids on Saturday too, but it looks like Tue+Fri is the starting point. Their guild calendar is here.

Almost forgot. If you're interested in participating in their raid, send an in-game mail (or perhaps a whisper) to Kaidan. For good measure, also drop a note in here so that there is a reference in case a Forged Alliance person gets a whisper asking who else in guild was interested in going.

I'll try to make their Tuesday and Friday raid next week. I haven't raided with them before, but if anyone in Forged Alliance is on the fence, you can find out with me. The way I see it, even though I'd be at an initial DKP disadvantage for premium loot, it will probably be less frustrating in the long run compared to week after week of PuGs. Besides, in a PuG, even if the premium loot that you wanted dropped, there's a good chance that some fail PuG will win the roll anyway whereas under a DKP system, I can eventually work my way to get priority access to that loot.

Going through the DKP exercise, their #1 DKP standing person has 4.6k DKP , but their #25 standing person has just 787.5 DKP. I'm pretty sure that they are missing a lot of those top 25 people. Looking at their #1 person, it looks like you can earn over 100 DKP in one run, so in just a few weeks of dedicated raiding, I can be in the top 25.

Lastly, it looks like their DKP system is need (at full item price) for main spec, greed (at substantial discount) for off spec. If you do participate in their raids, remember that you represent Forged Alliance. Don't game their system. Pick a main spec and be consistent.

thanks inori! i'll try to make tuesday's raid. also, guild master me requests that if you attend, please represent forged alliance and our standards to the best of your ability. for those that are interested in running 25s until cata, this is possibly your best opportunity for consistency, so make the best of it. that said, if you have any issues with the raids, please post here or let me know and i'll see what i can do. i would like to try to ensure that things are run in a relatively fair manner, but as most of you probably know, i don't place a lot of importance on pretty purplez, so please don't whine if you don't get a chance at that super mega awesome drop your first week participating in someone else's raid. /buzzkill
happy raiding!

Invitation to raid with Covent of Destruction.

Post by Kaidan- CoD Officer »

HI I am the main officer that contacted Inori about this chance to raid with Covent of Destruction. Some of you may remember me as i was in Forged Alliance in Burning Crusade aroufnthe time we were doing SSC and Gruuls Lair. My characters name is Kaidan, (warlock). I do remeber some of thenames that i have seen and glad to see that you guys are still playing.

Anyways to reference the DKP and getting loot. Most of the people on the top of the dkp list are inactive to this pointm we are in the provess of cleaning the list up. Many of the current raiders that we do have also no longer need loot from regular ICC25, now we just need heroic as most are already over 6k GS for us, myself included.

SO even being placed at 0 dkp you have a very high chance at getting loot because most of us dont need loot from bosses in ICC25 regular or H gunship at this point, or for the sole fact that a lot of people actually have negative DKP. So loot will be handled well.

If you guys are willing and ready to help us and yourselves out, your guild leaders and officiers will be just that in the raids. They will have a say and also help our officers lead. Were always open to help from other members. Our main raid leaders are Kaidan(myself), Taranis, Gina(fill in last name here), and Pozo(but he only types) We do have a 25man KS so we can do Heroics if we feel up to it as well. The only thing that we would hold onto atm are Shadow frost shards for shadowmourne the legendary axe. Other than that everything is free roll.

Once again on behalf of Covent of Destruction and myself i would like to thank you guys for the opportunity to make an almost super-rad-raid group and get work done.

Rathr just called me and said she's been thinking about it and that 6:00PM is too early for us. Specially tonight with Ailisa's going away dinner. Fridays are a little more doable as a possibility in the future but for right now we'll just be on standby/late arrival. If someone could let Kaidan know I'd appreciate it. I sent him an in game mail last night saying I would attend and now don't want him to expect us tonight.

greetings. a follow-up after today's raid. first off, thanks to those that attended. i thought things went well, as seemed to be the general consensus. i'm not sure what exactly was going on as far as loot distribution, it may have been cause there were pugs as well, but we are on their dkp list now. i'm not particularly concerned about it, as it seemed to work fine.

a few things:
the raids will likely run from 6:15ish to 9ish server on tuesdays, as they have several east coast people, so that's definitely earlier than we're used to. they are willing to hold a few spots for those that can't make it til 6:30ish, and they also had a few people take off early, which means there will likely be spots to fill in later in the evening. if we're able get a consistent, solid group going, we should be able to easily get through 8/12 on tuesdays, which would leave friday as a progression day, including ruby sanctum.

i'll be creating guild calendar events for these, so if you are interested in raiding, please make sure to sign up so we have a general idea of who's interested in going. please only sign up on one toon, and especially on fridays, preferably your main. if you know you're going to be late, or accept but won't be able to make it for whatever reason, please post or let someone know. also, if you're like me and haven't raided in a while, please familiarize yourself with the encounters if you need to.

i think that's about it for now, as always any questions / comments / suggestions, please post or let me know :)
