Hydross -- Resist Tanking
Hydross -- Resist Tanking
In SSC -- the second boss I believe is Hydross. I know this is a bit premature -- but I have the nature plate resist gear crafted, so I'd like to stake my claim as the nature resist tank for that fight. This way I can piece together the enchants / gems / etc. I need to keep the proper defense and whatnot to maximize nature resist.
Hydross -- Resist Tanking
Hydross is the first boss. Most people just skip him though and go around to Lurker, since Lurker is somewhat easier as far as gear requirements go.You also need 4 resist tanks for Hydross. 1 frost and 1 nature for Hydross herself, and then two other tanks to round up the adds after each phase change. I don't recall exactly how the add tanks gear, it may be a combination of frost and nature resist. Having hunters and paladins can help immensely in getting those resists up.Its probably not premature either. You guys are doing great in GL. One-shotting everything on a regular basis can be a good indicator that you're ready for the next step.

Anyone want to step forward to be the frost resist (FrR) tank?
We need to have someone commit, and get them geared up. I'm sure if we post something in game, we could get mats together pretty quick, and get a solid FrR set together. I'd suggest it'd be a plate wearer, as I did a bit of research and availability of Plate FrR gear seems much better than leather (druid tanks).
Or better yet, does anyone have a FrR set started?

I have one of the plate pieces crafted (it's Violet Eye reputation btw) --- so before anyone gets gung-ho, come see me about .. the helm? I forget which piece I have left ...
Hydross -- Resist Tanking
I would gladly contribute some nature resist aura to this cause.
Hydross -- Resist Tanking
nature resist totems also

Hydross -- Resist Tanking
I picked up a necklace with a lot of stamina and frost resist on it. Dont remember how much, but if the FR tank needs a necklace, lemme know.

Thandrenn kindly offered to be the frost tank.

as probably the 2nd or 3rd best geared druid tank, my druid wouldn't mind helping as one of the add tanks. just point me in the direction of what's needed and i'll make it happen.

k, we are gonna need you to make sure that everyone has enough popcorn, mtn dew (or beer if they prefer)... that is all.starsaver wrotejust point me in the direction of what's needed and i'll make it happen.

Druid tank FrR gear is pretty scarce - mostly limited to frill items - necks, rings, etc... Unless you can manage to find naxx crafted gear (requiring naxx tokeny items)
Not that I'm shooting down any aspiring druid tanks for this one particular fight - it's just going to be easier to gear up a plate wearing tank (there's a 4 piece crafted set of FrR lvl 70 plate gear)
BTW for you noobs (Looking at you kaittlynn :-p )
FR = fire resist
FrR = frost resist

true but didn't it say 4 tanks were needed? i didn't think we had 4 plate wearing type tanks. i was thinking there would be 2 other scary types that required your more normal type tankage. ps. Mike i still hate you...THAT IS ALL
Hydross -- Resist Tanking
We use 2 prot warriors for hydross in her two stages, then a prot pally and a feral druid to round up the 4 adds.

Akuma pointed me to this handy guide for Hydross gear:

It seems if I'm going to be Frost Tank, I'm going to need a considerable amount of help getting that gear together. That's a lot of primals.

I agree and second that -- I'm flat busted after getting my priest his mount/Primal Mooncloth gear. That's a LOT of primals, but still doable -- we'll be inspired to pull together after we down Lurker this Tuesday.
I have the Frost helm (?) crafted, and the 3 Wildguard crafted - but that's the end of it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbFIP24v ... tedhydross fightMy friend on my tells me you have two mts .. one nature resist one frost. two offtanks. but the two offtanks dont even need defense gear. they could wear cloth even .. just needs resist and stam. we could use green nature and frost resist items. pot some resist get hunter aura and a pally aura and we'd have no problem with adds. 335 is resist cap or something and i dont think u need that much for that adds so meh.

Hey all, Aggrocity has a nice set of prot gear now thanks too Group 2. I wouldnt mind re-speccing to prot, for 25 man raid nights if needed. I just need a heads up if we need that, otherwise I can OT as regular (arms/fury hybrid in nice prot gear) or bring Nagashi for more dps.

Well, I suggest the guild alchemists start transmuting earth -> water ASAP to build up the supply of waters. Hanh will start tonight on making them. Not sure on a good source of the fires though...

I had this thought while watching the video and figured I'd share here -- since aggro is reset in between the two phases, both MT's should white damage only up to optimal rage when on their opposite form. Guarantees a full rage bar to play with when picking him up at the transition.It looks like getting that trade back and forth, controlling those adds - and maybe easing up on DoTs right before transition and we could walk through this.Well .. that and the gear of course.
