Group 4 is changing; Group 3 is coming back.

Post by Inori »

I was talking about this over Mumble the past couple days; it is now time to make my plans official.

1) Since group 4 was able to fully clear heroic DS10 on Wednesday, we have 'proven' that the patch did not break us. We have obtained LBH mounts for all of our raid members and as far as I can tell, only Bobby needs a weapon off Deathwing for his BiS gear. For this reason, I consider group 4 'done' with Dragon Soul with the exception of finishing Alan's legendary daggers and turning off the 35% debuff (I'll cover these two exceptions in a little bit).

2) I want to refocus group 4's raid time on killing heroic Ragnaros next. Since raid IDs were wiped during the patch, we need to reclear FL10 on heroic and I want two nights to work on this instead of burning one of the nights on DS10. Note that even though this coming Monday is Labor day, if we can scrounge up enough people, I would like to do heroic Shannox just to get a head start and despawn the trash for the following Wednesday.

3) If Ragnaros goes down within one week and the kill looks easily repeatable, we will farm three mounts. It's a shame we don't have ten weeks to farm ten mounts, but I suppose this is the best we can do. Per our usual G4 rules, people present for the kill are eligible for the mount, so be sure to do extra good deeds and build up some karma for that roll!

4) If time permits, we will work on completing our tier 11 (BoT10, BWD10, T4W10) meta achievements. First on the list will be heroic BoT10 since a good portion of the raid has never seen Sinestra. Second will be T4W10 since it is short. Last will be BWD10. The goal is to do the heroic boss kills first since Sinestra, Nefarian, and Al'Akir give titles on heroic; we can do the funky achievements on normal mode on a second clear.

5) If we wrap everything else up (Ragnaros + T11 meta), we can go back and do DS10 without the 35% nerf. I don't consider this a priority since the 5.0.4 changes altered the fight mechanics to the point where doing DS10 unnerfed has lost its allure to me.

Since G4 will no longer be running DS10, I intend to restart G3 on Fridays and Saturdays starting September 7. I doubt that it will take two days to complete DS10, but we can get a feel for which day people prefer.

*** Important *** -- If you are a member of group 4 and still want to run DS10 *and* are unable to raid on Fridays or Saturdays, please get a hold of me by replying to this thread or talking to me in-game. Thanks.

For Alan's daggers, three clears of heroic DS10 on 9/7-9/21 will not finish his daggers. That's fine; at least he will be three weeks closer. After MoP hits, we can level to 90 and probably go back and five man clear DS10 on normal mode (since normal drops the same number of gems as heroic) to wrap things up for Alan.

My greater interest in getting G3 going is that I want the guild in the habit of having a raid on Friday and Saturday since this is more compatible with the work schedules of some raiders. I strongly suspect that when the raid groups reform in MoP (and we redo the group numbering), one of the heroic progression groups will be Fri+Sat.

I suppose I can retire my pally with Wretch till MoP if i decide to still raid with them and just bring my hpally to Friday-Saturday group if my druid is not full BiS by then if we are running are mains still or even my hunter but i do prefer bringing my hpally if its a priority. After this i would like to figure out if i am still leading g4 in MoP. I do not know if my leadership will be strong enough but i do know the basic principals to lead one. In that case, if i level one of my toons before you HP. I will at least get the group started on normal content for the new tier and reserve a spot for you HP since i will probably need leadership help and plus i would hate to dis-include you. Any who i do not mean to start off strong in MoP but at least get the new tier done. Really looking forward to the new experience.

Now that the kid is older and I have gotten over the funk of losing my brother, is there any room for your old tank?? Or I could dps I geuss. Just a spot on the roster would be fine

For group 4, my plan is that we will stop running DS10 this week (we're going to finish our meta mounts since that's all the business we have left in there). Those who are still interested in running DS10 in order to try and finish out their BiS (or maybe gear out alts) will run with group 3. Since not everyone could make Fri+Sat, yes, there will be spots in group 3.

I'll make up a group 3 roster after the first or second week of raiding once I can see a headcount for who shows up. Also note that group 3 will most likely evolve into Bobby's 25 man raid come MoP, so it's a good time to get a feel for raiding on Fri+Sat.

It's good to have you back Phil.
