Yes, I have read and understand them.
Which of the following best describes your raiding goals? The rest of your application will be judged based on the answer to this question.
1. Raid whenever you have time in whatever group is most convenient
2. Raid consistently in a normal mode group and maybe some heroics
3. Dedicated to progressing through heroics at whatever rate the group is capable of
4. Hardcore heroic progression
5. None of the above, please explain:
3 best describes me. And I'm not just saying that because it says that one the front page! I can't do the super hardcore progression raiding. I raid on my warlock fridays and saturdays and have been enjoying playing my DK a lot. I'm not looking for 8/8H any time soon, but I'd at least like to do more than the 6/8 pugs I've had to do on him since I left Crisis on him.
What is your raid experience? Please list as much as you think is relevant.
7/13H tier 11, 6/7H tier 12, 2/8H tier 13 for Cataclysm. Was 11/12H by the 10% buff in ICC, 4/5H ToC25, 5/5H ToC10, and prior to that I was raiding more or less casually. I'm a quick learner.
Why did you leave your previous (current) guild?
I was in Crisis on my DK and...they were a little too big for their britches, to put it nicely. Got tired of wiping on heroic Morchok for 1-2 hours a night followed by 2 full nights of Zon'ozz wipes where we never even got past the first black phase. Very little communication between raid leaders and raiders, lots of time in between pulls on progression content, and overall a raid environment that I didn't enjoy being part of.
Does anyone in our guild know you?
Hmmm. Not that I know of You may have done pugs or something with me or my warlock (Horrendous, formerly Gakpad) though.
How did you find out about our guild?
Saw you on wowprogress and was pretty impressed with your two new heroic kills yesterday. You guys seem promising
How many alts do you have and is this your main?
I have two character at 85 - my warlock and my DK. Technically my warlock is my main, but for the purpose of this application I should tell you that I research and practice and study both of my characters to the same extent and take my DK just as seriously as my warlock. I can guarantee you there will be zero conflict of interest since I really only play my warlock on Fridays and Saturdays for the most part anyway. I've been spending more and more time on my DK recently.
What are your play times?
I play 5-7 hours every day in the evenings except for Monday which I have school all day for. I have classes Mondays/Wednsdays so your raid schedule fits PERFECTLY for me. Its hard to find guilds that don't raid mondays/Wednsdays. I can make wednsday raids if need be also, I just usually get home around ~7 server time.
Which of our raid times would you be able to make?
Your group 2 raid times on Tuesday/Thursday.
Would you be willing to sit out if it is necessary without a fuss?
Yep. When I raid, I raid for the guild I'm with, not myself. I'd rather be part of a 4/8H guild and have to sit for a new heroic than part of a 3/8H guild because I insisted on staying in for a fight you have someone better ready to come in for.
Have you spent proper time and money into your gear / enchants / gems?
Yes. I don't use crap enchants/gems/professions and take my character seriously. I'd be embarassed if I didn't
Raiders are expected to use consumables during raids. In the following categories what consumable would you use and why?
- Flask/Elixirs: 300 strength flask - obviously When I'm tanking I use either 450 stam flask or 225 mastery/90 resistance elixirs depending on the fight
- Well Fed: 90 strength - again, duh Strength's my best stat by a fair margin
- Potion: Golemblood. Only option I prepot as well.
If you are DPS, what is the (spell) hit your character needs to be viable in a raid?
8%, 7% from gear because I'm a draenei.
What is the basic gemming strategy for your character?
Strength gems in every socket unless the net gain from using a hybrid gem + the socket bonus works out to be better than if I used a straight strength gem in the socket (I use simcraft after every upgrade to determine my stat weights)
What is the basic reforging strategy for your character?
In order of highest priority to lowest:
Reforge crit into hit until cap wherever possible
reforge crit into expertise until cap wherever possible
Reforge excess hit into haste wherever possible, mastery if the piece already has haste
reforge excess expertise into haste wherever possible, mastery if the piece already has haste
reforge mastery into haste wherever possible
reforge crit into mastery if the piece already has haste on it
What is your favorite boss fight and why? What boss haven't you fought that you're looking forward to the most?
Favorite fight would have to be heroic Hagara. Just a fun fight - I get to use dark simulacrum (yay!) and there's plenty of mechanics that most DS bosses seem to lack
Heroic Gunship seems like it'll be a pretty interesting fight. Lots of stuff going on, not to mention every other gunship fight in the game so far has been piss easy. It'll be a nice change.
What boss mod(s) do you use?
DBM
What website(s) do you use to read up on encounters proactively?
Tankspot, wowhead, mmo-champion, I pretty much read every reliable website I can get my hands on.
Please link your armory profile:

Anything else we missed or you want to tell us?
I strongly enjoy raiding in a 10 man environment. It allows for closer collaboration between players, more flexibility in groups, and not to mention its a whole lot easier to get 10 good players together than 25 good players, especially on this server >_> I'd really appreciate the opportunity to raid with you. I'm a consistent raider - I will NOT miss a raid day unless there's some sort of emergency. My warlock's attendance over the last ~year I've been actively playing is somewhere between 99 and 100%. I apply that philosophy to all my characters. I constantly research my classes and strive to perform as close to my potential as possible. Thanks for taking the time to go over this app
edit: hurr durr my age is not George and I do in fact have a name

Re: Tues/Thurs App for DPS DK (w/ well geared tank OS)
This guy knows what he's doing. If not granted a spot in g2 I would consider placing him in g4 as a dps/OT (we're just 1 heroic behind, and not for long )

While I wouldn't be opposed to that, Monday happens to be the only day of the week I don't play on. :/

Worth a shot, feral/dk combo would be the shit

FYI I'm 2H frost in my armory right now, but I normally play Unholy with Gurth. As it is now, the only 1H weapons I have for frost are a heroic Cleaver and heroic Mandible of Beth'tilac, and since Gurth is so OP it happens to be simming higher than DW at the moment.
Re: Tues/Thurs App for DPS DK (w/ well geared tank OS)
Jeff will respond to this application with the perspective of the Tue/Thu G2. For G4, we do raid Tue/Mon. I would be open to having you raid with us on Tuesdays (heroic progression night) and then have you finish your raid lockout on Sunday with G1 (the normal mode group). At present, G1 is relying on a lot of alts from G2/G4 (so you would swap in for an alt as soon as the raid IDs sync'd). Similarly on Monday, G4 could use an alt from G2 to fill in for your spot.BunnyofDeath wrote:While I wouldn't be opposed to that, Monday happens to be the only day of the week I don't play on. :/
If you'd like, I can extend you calendar invites for the next week of raiding in G4 so you can see if the group is to your liking before making any decision to join the guild.

Re: Tues/Thurs App for DPS DK (w/ well geared tank OS)
I'll wait to make any decisions until I hear from both groups. That being said, I'd prefer group two if not just for scheduling reasons. I'd prefer to raid tues/thurs just for the fact that it leaves me with more time open on weekends to do some other things with my life. It's not critical but its a factor in my decisions all the same.

Re: Tues/Thurs App for DPS DK (w/ well geared tank OS)
I used to be in Crisis for all of Wrath. I know things have been chaotic over there, and I don't know how things are going, although it seems like a lot of the usual suspects seem to be running the show.
That being said, we can always use motivated/skilled players, but if you are looking for just a "more streamlined, positive, cleaned up" version of Crisis you are in the wrong place. We are NOT a hardcore progression guild in any way(i.e. hardcore attendance tracking, DKP, complex loot distribution, sitting people for mistakes, etc). We do well enough because we get along for the most part and try and be efficient in our limited raid times. However if you are looking for a guild that has the kinds of infrastructure and raiding expectations in place like Crisis does you are in the wrong spot.
Also, I've got friends in Crisis and I love em to death but if you are accustomed to the more drama laden, shall I say "aggressive" personality environment, you will also find no tolerance for that here. Most of the people in this guild are adults mid 20's+ that just want a decently skilled raid to participate in in peace and experience success at an acceptable rate.
Anyway my 2 cents.

Re: Tues/Thurs App for DPS DK (w/ well geared tank OS)
No, quite the contrary, I left crisis because the atmosphere was NOT what I was looking for in a guild at all. I only lasted 3 or 4 weeks there. It was too strict, and there was no progress on top of that. I'd rather a more laid back environment where I don't have to constantly be on edge - which from the guild description, is why I'm applying here in the first place. The fact you can provide that sort of environment and get things done just makes it that much better.
Re: Tues/Thurs App for DPS DK (w/ well geared tank OS)
greetings. thanks for the app, everything looks quite good. g2 is generally full, so i can't guarantee a spot, but as inori said we're still trying to get both progression groups going consistently so there should be a spot in one or the other at least one day a week in the short term if that would work for you.
anyway, you just whispered me so i can skip my typical "if all this seems acceptable, please track someone down in game for an invite" line.
fyi, we spent a month doing pretty much the same thing on various bosses as well, and i suspect the next couple months won't be much different.BunnyofDeath wrote: Got tired of wiping on heroic Morchok for 1-2 hours a night followed by 2 full nights of Zon'ozz wipes where we never even got past the first black phase.
if you raid as unholy that would probably kill off my last excuse for still playing assassination :/BunnyofDeath wrote: FYI I'm 2H frost in my armory right now, but I normally play Unholy with Gurth. heh i noticed that when i was perusing your app on my phone and i was going to mention it. +42 for this edit thoughBunnyofDeath wrote:edit: hurr durr my age is not George and I do in fact have a name
