Raiding, etc

Post by Han »

We are going to try and be more transparent about raiding, as we have been in fairly heated discussions about the direction of the guild with the new badge loots, etc and what content we are ready for and how to best progress.  This has lead to last minute decisions on where to go and who to bring to the raid.  Going forward, we are going to make a concerted effort to post by monday (at the latest), our raid schedule for the week and who will be the organizers.  We will have 2 or 3 officers in charge of organizing the raid and getting invites out.  When it comes to tanks and healers, we take the most experienced players available to suit the encounter.  After that, we fill all remaining spots with dps who do the most DPS per WWS records of previous raids, and also come prepared, with a good attitude, don't die, etc.  Tuesdays are going to be the hardest raids to get into because we have been raiding as a guild for over a year on this night, so the highest number of officers and long time members will be getting invites.

This is going to be a really tough thing to police too.   Obviously some encounters favor certain classes / specs / etc -- if you feel like we're (or I should say, the people doing the invites) are being unfair, or you've respecced/regeared/got a better CPU/havent been invited in a long while/etc. -- please bring that to our attention in a mature fashion (a certain way to *NOT* get in the raid is to be a fussy b**ch about it). These raid lists are not and will never IMHO be set in stone, people will come and go and be on vacation (as I am now) and a whole host of other things -- there are plenty of opportunities to earn your positions.

I fully understand wanting to proceed further in the game and to do so will require the most experienced and geared players. Invites seem like a reasonable way to do so. However I am curious if there is a plan to gear up those of us who are not the most experienced and geared? Thanks, Cookies

Wednesday and Thursday raids are going to be the raids you want to get in on.  Part of the reason we are trying to set out clear raid targets for the week is so raiders can plan their schedule around the content they are geared for.  So, if you are decked out in T4 and no badge loots, wednesday is a good night to raid tempest keep/SSC.  My intention is to make available the raid leader/organizers for the week so you can make arrangements to be invited.  A great way to do this would be to either send a mail or a whisper to the leader/organizer for the night and mention your interest in the raid.  Often times leaders invite people they know first, simply because they know they are interested in raiding.  Put yourself in the leaders shoes.... Its difficult to send out whispers to 15 people who might just be online doing arenas or dailies, it almost feels like you are trying to strong arm someone into doing something, whereas its often the case that you might really want to raid that night.  This is where proactively letting them know you would like to attend helps them out a lot. All of the long time officers are in this guild to progress, and we all understand that progression means gearing more than 25 people.   Most of us are more than willing to step aside and open up spots for our new recruits and occasional raiders..... Especially on wednesday/thursday nights.  There will of course be situations where someone can only raid on 1 specific night that week, or the specific encounters mean we really need spots open to certain classes, but by and large we are very flexible.  Forum posts are a great way to notify leaders/officers of your interest in raiding more regularly as well.  With the new badge loots out, it makes it a whole lot easier to gear up to t5/t6 levels in a hurry, if you can get into karazhan raids.  If you don't see one with space or that fits your schedule, start one up :)  In short, don't be shy because raid leaders have a hard time discerning between someone being shy or not wanting to raid.

Hanh, Thanks for the responce,  from my inturpetation of the original note it sounded like wed, and thursday you were planning on picking and choosing and they were not neccessary being designated  to level the non-experienced up. If you have an opening on wed. I would like to go.  My best gear is tanking gear which is from Kara / badge gear. My DPS gear is not as strong but is composed of either arena/honor and bracers from gruels Willing to go either as furry or off tank. Please let me know if you have room and preferd sepc. Thanks
