Gruuls DKP Last Tuesday
For those who were not there, our dkp system failed in gruuls this week. Noone wanted to pay up for the items, and rightfullly so as they are horribly overpriced compared to t5 stuff. We had a little meeting and decided to use a bidding system in gruuls going forward. Here is how it will work: Item drops, bidding starts at 10 dkp. Anyone can bid the minimum, and anyone who has positive DKP can bid over the minimum. All bids will be whispered to the raid leader. The highest bidder is then charge the next bidder down +1 dkp for the item. If there is a tie (usually at the minimum, people will /roll. Example: T4 Legs drop. Dudepal links item and asks everyone who is interested to whisper him a bid, starting at 10. Fargol bids 10, Sweethell bids 10, and Kaitlynn bids 20. Kaitlynn must have positive dkp to do this, and is awarded the item and charged 11 dkp for it. We will see how this system works out in the coming weeks, hopefully better than before. We are trying to still give people dkp for coming to gruul, but not hamper our progression by having people pass up upgrades because they are too spendy. Last weeks items were changed to be 10 dkp, so that is reflected in the sheet.

I'm confused as to why (in this example) Kaittlynn is only charged 11 when bidding 20? Your bid is what you're willing to pay, sounds like we're setting up a complicated eBay odd bid thingy. I think if you bid -- that should be the final price. I worry about increments too -- and I dont want people upping bids by 1dkp, 5 would be preferred, but if it's a situation where (using your example) Kaittlynn had 11 dkp to spend - she could up it from the 10 to be "all in". Additionally -- I think there should be a weight attached to "real" vs. "fake" dkp -- if you're bidding the minimum on the item because you're at negative dkp, and Kaittlynn had 10dkp to spend, it should be hers by default.Hanh wrote T4 Legs drop. The person who wins the bid is charged 1 + the 2nd highest bid. This is done so that if you really really want an item and you bid all your dkp on it, but the only other person who wants it bid the min, you don't lose all your dkp. There's no upping bids in this system, everyone gets 1 bid and it is whispered to master looter so only the master looter knows the bids. What i'm realizing now is that we should have 2 master looters per raid of different archtypes. So say Dudepal is a master looter, but some healing gear drops, the 2nd master looter, a melee/caster, should handle bids for the healing gear. Not that I wouldn't trust dudepal, just everyone should be on the same level when bidding for an item.

With bidding, I dont think that they should be open bids. I think that they need to be silent bids to a nuetral party. If it is something the raid leader wants, bids would go to an alternative officer. Everyone that wants the item should whisper their bid to the said person. That said person then tells who won it and how much DKP it went for. If there is a tie, give the option to those in the tie to raise their bid or stay the same. That way we won't have the "Oh! I will go 5 more than that" problem.

If you read Hanh's post closely, he states that you whisper the bids to the loot master.Kaittlynn wrote With bidding, I dont think that they should be open bids. Ok -- I never really saw this as "one bid", and more of an auction. I'm willing to try it this way though ... I can see how this would be faster. (Though I dont think we need to speed up our purple sorting -- we need to speed up our trash pulls / take afk breaks at ideal times)

The main point of it being silent and charging 2nd highest bid + 1 is to avoid wasting dkp (not time). Lets try the silent system and see how it works. Agreed that dudepal should defer when he is bidding.

Ok couple of things from tonights Gruul bidding system. I thought that we set it up to big in increments of 5? Also, I thought that everyone could bid 10dkp.. No matter if you had negative dkp or 0.. you could atleast bid 10.. That rule is in there so that when nobody wants an item a new guy/character can get it for 10dkp.. But I also thought that you couldn't bid more then 10 unless you had dkp to spend?? So straighten me out, where did I get confused?

Yeah, that's basically it, although I think we changed to you can bid anything higher than 10, since we're only doing one round of bidding. The increments of 5 was initially proposed because we were going to do rounds of bidding and it would speed things up, but with the single round it doesn't make much of a difference. I think we'll do integer values, but I'm not sure that's been said specifically? I think for the new person thing that's correct, but in the case of Miharu (if that's what you're referring to) He was allowed to use his main's points ( which will be deducted from his main) because we specifically needed the hunter to do the fight (misdirect, hunter tank on kiggler). Sorry for the confusion, it can get pretty hectic with the looting, especially when we do a run late at night like this and people are getting tired and anxious to keep moving. Also, we still haven't worked out all the kinks with the system. Feel free to voice any concerns or improvements you think we could make.

I was just browsing the DKP and I think I found an error regarding the T4 shoulders and dudepals explanation. Miharu's DKP line seems to be all messed up. It shows him getting the item for 19 points, but then it doesn't show him getting any points for being there or losing any points for the item.

i was also perusing the dkp chart, and noticed that the dst only has a point value of 68 yet riggings dropped 100 on it. since i like to add to confusion, should we maybe set a maximum bid to the item value and if there is a tie then highest overall dkp gets it? or maybe reset the highest bid to the item value after it has been won? same thing i guess... or should we leave it as is and be able to spend however much we want?
Gruuls DKP Last Tuesday
Afaik, I think I was charged seventy-something for the DST, which I'm guessing is the next highest bid +1 according to the bidding system rules (unless I'm miscalculating). I'm definitely fine with paying more than the normal item value...it's a great trinket that only the expansion can replace now. However, I can definitely see Draven's point, and it seems like the tie with highest overall dkp getting it could make a lot of sense. Looking forward to building up more points to start getting tier 5 ^^ gogo fathomlord and tidewalker yo!
