Whats the name of the mod? I'm no code wiz or anything, but somewhere in there is a line that looks like "/r Ofie failed at Lava Wave" and you could just change that to "/whisper Wadup That db Ofie got hit by the Lava Wave again! (200)"

I personally don't have a problem with the addon. I don't pay attention to raid chat during fights because my eyes are generally glued to my health and my threat. Just tryin to find a compromise that will benefit the people that don't like it and the raid leaders who need the info. Anyways, as I said before, as people become more aware of what they need to be doing there will be less spam. Maybe that is the fix we need: People being more aware = less spam.

I agree with Wadup and John...first off, if it bugs you enough, just ignore me. I never say anything in raid chat anyway. Second, if people stop getting hit by the things, there won't be any spam. Problem solved.

QFT.
Monday morning quarterbacking with the WWS doesn't help us when we're wiping repeatedly on a boss and getting frustrated. I like Ofie's addon and I have no problem with it's present operation.

I also support the "stop getting hit by things" solution to this.

I'm venting about how I hate how rainbows only show up after the rain and only from a certain angle... Why can't they be there all the time to make everyone's day brighter??? How come I can never seem to find the end of them either? I've been looking for the little god damn leprechaun (sp?) so I can steal his pot of gold and not have to work so I can play WoW all day. I also hate how the kids will never share their Trix with that silly rabbit. All he's asking for is a taste of that wonderful ceral... Why do they have to be sooo mean?? I'm JK... Wait, maybe this is the type of crappy humor that people are talking about. Oops, nevermind this post. Just lightening things up

Personally, that mod makes me pay twice as much attention to what's going on, since I don't want to be called out by it. So that right there is a benefit of having it. I could list all the other positive things it does too, but they've already been said. Dead horse, beating, etc. And if you're worried about saying something and having it be spammed out? If people don't do something wrong, then there will be no spam. Ta da, problem solved. Besides, I know for a fact that whether there's talking going on or not, some certain people (whom I won't name at this time) don't pay attention to raid chat anyways. We won't even be fighting stuff, and said person won't see a thing that's said. And if you're worried that you'll say something and it won't be responded to? Don't worry; I raided for a year and a half without vent, so I automatically notice when things are said in raid due to habbit. If you say something important, I'm probably going to see it, and then I have a reason to yell at Wadup (
) in order to make sure he knows. Tsuni sometimes catches this stuff too, so there's me -and- Tsuni yelling at Wadup. Either way, whatever you say is going to get to him.

I don't think we have this resolved. Could everybody please state again the pro's and cons of Ofie's mod. Then after that we'll base a poll on it for voting. Then after that we should start another post about the results of the poll, or better yet keep on using this thread. Then maybe we can have a vent meeting about it , then sum up the vent meeting on this post again.

I thought this was resolved-- /ignore Ofie
But serisously, I personally like the mod. For me it is a way to see when i mess up. I don't raid lead, but I can see where it is really a very useful tool for leading a raid. I think we all can remember the "Flame Wreath" --especially those of us that were lucky enough to run it when Chuunks would sing to us!~ I think that it gets rid of having to ask who messed up, and lets us focus on those that may need extra practice or guidance. For instance on the dance-- Wadup said time and again that we should all know it, but I couldnt figure it out. I always went too far over when i was on "4" so I was too behind to do it correctly. I did not find it embarassing when it said "Kaittlynn has failed to dance" (or whatever it said) because that was obviously with my death. But it allows Raid leaders and others to be able to continue focusing on the raid, then scrolling back up when the fight is over to see what happened. If I had died from something besides the dance, then at least they would know that I had that part down. Also, because it is broadcasted to the whole guild, I think that it gives the people that don't like people to see their struggles more incentive to do better. I think some people often struggle when they have their faults pointed out, but hopefully that will be a driving force to give them incentive to do better. The people that do struggle are the ones that really need to try to get in on a 10 man so that they have more practice when things are on a little bit of a easier scale. Also, having the practice with out the chaos of 24 others to see one mess up might be better. As the guild expands and more people are leveling up, there are going to be more people having to sit out of 25 Naxx. I really think that this mod could help show trends of those that are really just not getting it. Unfortunatley some people are going to have to sit out, and this could help weed that down. While I am on this subject, our guild application specifically asks if people are willing to sit out. As far as I can tell, those that we accepted said yes. A lot of us did not fill out applications because we were in the guild before it expanded this big, however I really think that this applies to us all. If someone is consistently making the raid fail, then they should not be offended to be asked to sit out. In the future on 25 man raids, do not be surprised if more people are asked to sit out for not coming prepared, following raid leader instruction, or having disconnect issues. Unfortunately we have had problems with internet connections in the past, and we actually did lose a raider until there was a better connection. This means that if anyone now is blowing up the raid regularly now, because of connection issues, they can (and should) be asked to sit out. We are not a hard core raiding guild, but really it is just courtesy to sit out if there one is hurting the raid. If you can't get the fights-- just work on them. Don't worry about the mod that is going to broadcast it to the raid, just work on fixing the problem. It took me about 6 or 7 different raids to get the dance, I would have sat out for any of them that I knew I wouldn't make. Waaay long post, that I probably shouldn't post because I am tired and I rambled, but I figured since the thread was already hijacked, that I would finally open up my thoughts,
