The reason I used you in the op-ed example is because I wanted to make the distinction that even if you wanted to remain main spec DPS, if in practice you still ended up being our third tank 50% of the time, I would pass tanking loot to you even if I was on my alt paladin who was a main spec tank. The point of my op-ed example is that if a person's main character was accumulating off spec tanking gear in the 25 raid and actually tanking for the 25s a reasonable percentage of the time, I would pass on tanking gear if I happened to be present on my tanking alt -- there is no point in glorifying my tanking alt with gear from the 25 mans if I don't expect to tank in ICC25.
Don't feel coerced into becoming a tank; make sure that it's what you actually want to do and enjoy it. It is perfectly viable if you want to remain main spec DPS and use offspec bids to accumulate tanking gear. What would happen in that case, though, is that you would be accumulating tanking gear 'behind' the two main spec tanks (since main specs get priority) and the use of DKP for offspec gear (even though it will be reduced), will slowly push you a little behind for DPS gear as well (since you'll be spending DKP slightly faster than other main spec DPS).

Yeah I understand, at first when Thandrenn asked me I wasn't quite sure because week 1 & 2 we 2 tanked TOC25, and didn't switch to 3 tanking until week 3. Its better that I tank anyways, I tank our 10man ICC, so that will help me know the fights for ICC25.
