One way to do this is to update the class forums with those benchmarks and put in some rotations and tips from people who know what they're doing and have been doing it for a while. A BIG thing for dps like Wadup mentioned is to stay out of the bad stuff, even if you don't die it puts an extra strain on the healers. Even if you do sub-par dps you'll beat anyone who dies mid-fight.
