My Old DKP Argument Again.

Post by WarmApplePie »

Just throwing this back out there since now seems like an appropriate time. There is no reason for us not to use "Attendance" DKP or "Progression" DKP. We've got phanton bank sitting at 6.5 DKP right now and that would only grow over time. +1 DKP per hour, +2 for the first time we down a boss, something like that would be great. I leave it up to the powers that be. I heard Dustin say something last night so I'm just trying add my 2 copper.
Do you know what "nemesis" means? A righteous infliction of retribution manifested by an appropriate agent. Personified in this case by an 'orrible cunt... me.

I personally like Attendance DKP too, since it's an extra reward to people for sitting through wipes instead of bailing/not showing up. I not sure what kind of effect it'll have on our system; I'll leave that to Inori and Dustin.

Not it.

That being said, our current DKP system roughly equates to 3-4 DKP per person for a boss kill (quick math of 3-4 items each worth 25 DKP). If we gave 1 DKP for attendance on a wipe night, that means that three weeks of Thursday night raiding will equal 1 boss' attendance advantage to those who stuck it out. It is not a wholly unreasonable trade off (I don't expect us to be stuck on this thing for 3 weeks).

I want people to be serious when we are practicing. I'm tempted to condition the award of wipe night DKP solely on if the raid is making actual progress or not (if we're sloppy and regressing, zero DKP for the night). Remember, why would you want to receive 1 DKP for one to three hours of wiping when an actual Festergut kill gives you 3-4 DKP on a weekly basis as soon as we cross the threshold and have it on farm?

Will there be bonus DKP for Festergut attempts if we clear quickly on Tuesday night -- probably. All the more reason to be serious on Marrowgar, Deathwhisper, Gunship, Saurfang, AND the trash so that we can clear to Festergut quickly and get solid attempts in and hopefully a kill.

Note that the above is not policy. It is my own opinion on the matter. The officers will probably kick this around and get more feedback in this thread. A good compromise would be to retroactively put the bonus DKP in effect if next week's raids are successful and making progress. Note the word retroactive -- I don't want to put a policy in place and have to renege on it because it demotivates the raid and causes it to regress. However, don't be surprised if things go well next week and there's a bonus added before the week after next.

Gah. What I said last night was I was going to start adding raid events in the eqDKP tracker for nights when we don't down bosses, to track attendance. Usually entries only get added if loot drops, so if we don't down a boss, nothing is put up. But I'd like to be able to track who shows up on progression nights when we may not down anything.

as always, i'd vote for no bonus dkp of any sort.
i can see the logic behind attendance dkp, but wouldn't have any desire to try to keep track of it, or wish that upon anyone.
beyond that i see little reason to reward people for doing what they should already be doing, for example showing up on time and being prepared.
just my 2¢

Attendance DKP sounds good to me, exposure to the fights helps get the bosses down. We spend a lot of time trying to gear up to be ready for the boss fights. But ill have to agree with Draven, keeping track of it sounds like a pain, and i would not wish that on anyone.
