Testing the waters ...

Post by Drumble »

Last night was a blast -- it was good to see you all again and raid with you. I've been back and forth with this speaking with Dee mostly about this...  I feel a certain obligation towards she and Brian in particular because in some respects I believe that in my quitting, I took 'real' raiding away from them.   At the same time, I remember how passionate I would get about issues with this guild, and I don't want to be "that guy" again.  It was fairly draining. :) Also in quitting, I learned a few people had ongoing beef with me to the tune of "at least that will solve some issues" when I left. So I wanted to take temperature here and see what folks thought about my ongoing regular participation in raiding, and whether or not that means having to join FA.

Random thoughts about this: I personally don't think you have to have an FA tag over your head to be a regular raider, but some do, and I can see their point of view as well.   As long as you make a "commitment" to the raid group by following guild raiding and loot policies, and by showing up when you say you will, I don't really care what guild you are in. About the passion:  maybe just go with the flow, don't be an officer or organizer?  Raid for the fun and the cool group maybe.  About ongoing beefs:  Im sure stuff was said in the heat of the moment and in the days that followed, but I would think that if someone had a huge issue with you that I woulda heard about it long before then.  People for some damn reason tell me things.  Maybe I should go into counseling... (see previous post about Screamshot's botched gender reassignment procedure) Water temperature from me:  about 80 (average monthly water temp off the coast of Oahu...  figured that is about "perfect" for water temp).  You are sitting on a beach, drink in hand, playing WoW and getting sunburned...  Who the hell plays WoW on the beach?!?!

Mason,

My feelings ob the matter are not secret at all. I have had the conversation with several of "MY Other General Goods Guildies." For me, title of guild by your name does nothing to show commitment and loyalty. You guys never stopped being my guildies, and I enjoy raiding with you. That said, I would love it if you guys all came back home from your vacation guild! You guys founded this guild that so many of us get to take advantage in. You are the one, Mason, that taught me what it is to be team player. I remember back in Kara when we didn't have a loot policy, I asked you about loot when I would win multiple rolls and you always said, "Do whatever, you are playing among friends." I learned early on in my raid years that it is ok to pass to others. It is better to be playing with friends than with loot whores.

I think that the way that you guys play-- and have played with Naxx reiterates the joys of playing with friends. Whether or not you join back up is your decision. I would be happy to have you guys back home, but I intend to play with my friends regardless :) You guys have been loyal from the beginning, and I know you will stay loyal to the end. I never really had heat for you to begin with, but as I far as I am concerned the water is fine, Jump on in!!!

You know, most of us only have vague knowledge of exactly what went down that caused you to leave.  Everyone was pretty tight lipped about it, and that is fine, it was between you and whoever and it is your business.  I can't speak for everyone, but for my part I don't really harbor any lingering resentment or anything.  I think if anyone has the right to return, as a guild founder you certainly do.  I personally miss playing with you guys, but you will have to make your own decision.  Whatever it was that went on, I hope that this guild has tha maturity to just leave it in the past and get on with the fun!

I have not known you as long as many of the others have, but I enjoyed raiding with you and always thought that you were a good presence in the guild. That goes for all the other GG people as well. I personally have no problem with you guys raiding with us on a regular basis regardless of guild tag and I hope you do. I know you're good people and you enjoy raiding and aren't looking to start any kind of drama. However there are newer people in the guild who don't know you guys and don't know the history of the guild. They might be confused like "are these pugs?" "is this another guild we're allied with?" I don't I can't speak for them but there's potential for confusion. I think the best option is for everyone to rejoin FA but I'm more than happy to continue raiding with you guys in any capacity.

The water in the hottub is awesome...  You have a drink in your hand, the jets are on, and you are sitting there planning your assult on Uludar with a Shammy (comic relief), 2 durids (not much room left with a big bear and a kitty...  btw, kittys tend to be a little frisky, so if he starts humping your leg just swat him with a newspaper or something), a priest (for confessions in case you take the kitty up on his "offer"), a DK (can help you deal with the kitty if needed, plus he brought the drinks), a Pally (pallys make excellent friends and guess whos payin for the dancers), and a warlock (no better way to summon some hot female dwarfs in).  Hey, whos swimming suit is floating in the middle?  Im gonna guess the kittys or the DK...  Good times in the FA hottub yo.

I would welcome you guys back imo. I always enjoyed you guys and it was a loss when you left to me. It isnt a huge deal to me if you come back to the guild or not but i would hope you would. I enjoy being able to talk to peeps in the guild outside of raids and run a heroic or two from time to time with guildies. I know i am not a real consistant raider but if my opinion means anything i vote come raid and hopefully come back to the guild.

You guys are definitely welcome back if you want to.  If you're wary to come on back for whatever reason, I think it's fine if you just become regular raiders and get on our DKP list regardless if you stay in GG.  But getting you guys back in FA for 25-man raids as we think about Ulduar would help us solve our current attendance issues as we often need a few more, would help us progress with your skillz, and more importantly FA would become a better guild with you all back in!
